IELTS Matching Information: how to find which paragraph
Matching Information asks which paragraph contains a particular piece of information — a definition, an example, a reason. Unlike Matching Headings, these questions are not in passage order, and a paragraph can be the answer to more than one question, so they are best done after the other question types for that passage.
How to answer
- •Do these questions last, once you already know roughly where things are in the passage from the other tasks.
- •Read the information to locate and turn it into a keyword or idea, then scan for a paraphrase of it.
- •Remember a paragraph letter can be used more than once, and some paragraphs may not be used at all.

Is Matching Information in passage order?
No. Unlike most reading tasks, these questions are not in the order the information appears, which is what makes them time-consuming.
Can a paragraph be the answer to two questions?
Yes. In Matching Information a single paragraph can contain more than one of the details being located, so letters may repeat.
